Alberto Gilardino (born 5 July 1982 in Biella, Italy), is an Italian footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Genoa C.F.C. and the Italian national team. Gilardino currently holds the record for being the youngest player to have scored 100 goals in Serie A.
Gilardino began his career playing with Piacenza in 1999 and he was sold( in co-ownership) to Verona the year after. In 2002 Gilardino signed with Parma and in 2005 with Milan. With Milan he has won the UEFA Champions League 2006-07, 2007 UEFA Super Cup and the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup. In 2008 Fiorentina officially announced the deal with Gilardino, he signed a five-year-contract. With Fiorentina he played the 2008â09 UEFA Champions League. In 2012 Girardino signed a four-and-a-half year contract with Genoa, but on August of the same year he switched club again and joined Bologna.
Gilardino made his debut with the National team in 2004. He was a member of the Italy squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup.He has also represented Italy during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
